Eduard Heinis

Eduard Heinis (born October 13, 1850 in Therwil , † September 14, 1936 in Liestal , reformed , resident in Therwil) was a Swiss politician ( BAB / SP ).

Life

Eduard Heinis was born on October 13, 1850 in Therwil as the son of the farmer and linen weaver Johann Heinrich Heinis and Anna Maria, née Brodbeck. After attending the trade school in Basel, Eduard Heinis completed his studies in mathematics and natural sciences at the universities of Basel , Lausanne and Munich .

As a result, he taught from 1873 to 1894 at the Waldenburg district school , where he introduced the new subject of fruit tree care. He then headed the Liestal cantonal prison from 1897 to 1922. In 1930 he founded the Saatzuchtgenossenschaft of Basel, which he then as President board. He also served as treasurer and vice-president of the Baselland Agricultural Association and President of the Baselland Cantonal Gymnastics Club. Eduard Heinis was a member of the Liestal Masonic Lodge .

Eduard Heinis married Louise, born Walser, who was born in Oberdorf in 1875 . He died in Liestal on September 14, 1936, one month before he was 86.

Political career

Eduard Heinis, a member of the Grütliverein , was one of the founders of the farmers and workers' union in 1892, along with Stephan Gschwind , which consisted of Social Democrats, Christian Social Catholics and left-wing liberals. In 1894 he was elected as the first "red" member of the government council of the canton of Basel-Landschaft , in which he was represented until 1896. He also co-founded the Liestal consumer cooperative in 1895.
