Albert Steinhauser (born October 15, 1971 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( Greens ). In 2017 he was the club chairman of the Greens in the Austrian Parliament and from 2007 to 2017 a member of the National Council .

School and education

Albert Steinhauser attended a Bundesrealgymnasium in Vienna between 1982 and 1990 and then studied law at the University of Vienna . He graduated in 1998 with the title Mag. Jur. and then did his community service with the probation service .

Professional and political career

After completing his studies and community service, Albert Steinhauser completed his court internship at the Baden District Court in 1998 and then at the Vienna Labor and Social Court (1999 to 2000). From 2000 to 2007, or since 2017, he has been employed as a lawyer in legal protection at the Union of Private Employees, Printing, Journalism, Paper .

Albert Steinhauser began his political career as a student representative of GRAS (1993 to 1995) and spokesman for the Green Alternative Youth (1995 to 1996). In 1998 he was elected to the Vienna Provincial Board (until 2007) and was district councilor and club chairman of the Greens in the Landstrasse district between 1999 and 2001 . From 2002 to 2007 Steinhauser held the position of regional spokesman for the Vienna Greens, and since 2004 he has also been a member of the extended federal board of the Austrian Greens. Steinhauser ran for the Greens in the 2006 National Council elections, but missed a mandate. By switching from terezija stoisits in the Ombudsman's Office Albert Steinhauser moved to the 2nd July 2007 the National Council. There he took over the role of judicial spokesman and was re-elected in the National Council election in 2008 on the Viennese state list, on which he came in second. On January 18, 2012, after many years of tough negotiations between the SPÖ and ÖVP and under intense pressure from the Greens in the Austrian Parliament, the law on the rehabilitation of the victims of Austrofascism was passed unanimously. Albert Steinhauser was the initiator of the law. On May 24, 2017 he succeeded Eva Glawischnig as club chairman of the Greens.

Albert Steinhauser has been an extra-parliamentary opposition politician for the Greens since leaving the National Council in 2017.
