Albert Thumann (born July 31, 1856 in Ichtratzheim ; † May 27, 1938 in Gebweiler ) was a pharmacist, mayor and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Thumann attended elementary school and studied at the University of Strasbourg . He was a pharmacist's apprentice from 1869 to 1873, a pharmacist's assistant until 1876 and passed the pharmacist's examination on July 7th, 1878. After that he was administrator until 1880, owner of a pharmacy in Hagenau until 1884 and in Gebweiler until 1907. From 1890 he was a member of the pharmacy auditing and pharmaceutical preliminary examination committee for the district of Upper Alsace. He was also mayor of Gebweiler from June 1902 to 1908. He was also the author of scientific and professional treatises in the Journal of Pharmacy of Alsace-Lorraine and long-time secretary and president of the Upper Alsatian Pharmacists' Association.

From 1912 to 1918 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Reichsland Elsaß-Lothringen 4 ( Gebweiler ).
