Albert Waltz

Albert Walzer (born May 17, 1902 in Ravensburg , † March 16, 1978 in Stuttgart ) was a German art historian .

After attending the humanistic grammar school and dropping out of theology studies, Walzer studied art history and history at Munich University. He received his doctorate with a thesis on the Vorarlberg sculpture of the late Gothic. From 1929 until his retirement in 1967 he worked at the Württemberg State Museum and its predecessor institutions. One focus of Walzer's activities was the care of numerous local museums; He “gave a face” to 50 or 60 of them. His brother was Rudolf Walzer , National Socialist Lord Mayor of Ravensburg from 1932 to 1945.
