Albert of Melchior

Albert Melchior , from 1912 by Melchior , (born May 17, 1844 in Bönnigheim , † March 13, 1913 in Nürtingen ) was a manufacturer in Württemberg.

Life

After attending grammar school in Heilbronn, Albert Melchior studied chemistry at the Technical University of Stuttgart . On January 1, 1872, he joined the Heinrich Otto & Sons company in Nürtingen. In the following years he took over the management of the company and expanded it considerably. Among other things, he built new factories in Neckartenzlingen in 1882 and in Neckarhausen in 1901 .

In 1884 he founded the cotton spinning and weaving mill Albert Melchior & Co. in Nürtingen . In 1891 he bought a colored weaving factory in Frickenhausen and converted it.

Albert von Melchior was a member of the Reutlingen Chamber of Commerce from 1893 to 1913. He was married to Berta Otto, the daughter of the cotton spinning and weaving mill owner Heinrich Otto (1820–1906) in Nürtingen and had 4 children with her.

From 1907 until his death, Melchior was a member of the First Chamber of the Württemberg state parliament as a representative of trade and industry . He was a member of the national liberal German party .
