Alberto do Carmo Bento Ribeiro

Alberto do Carmo Bento Ribeiro (born December 21, 1941 in Luanda ) is an Angolan politician and diplomat .

Life

He attended elementary and secondary school in Luanda and then studied electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University from 1962 to 1966 . He also graduated from the University of Lisbon . In Germany he worked for a computer company. Ribeiro was director of telecommunications services for the Angolan liberation movement from 1968 to 1975. After Angola's independence, he worked in various functions for the Angolan government from 1975. After working as State Secretary for Telecommunications, Post and Civil Aviation from 1975 to 1978, from 1978 to 1980 he was Minister for Industry, Energy, Geology, Mining and Oil. At times he was co-chair of the joint commission for economic cooperation between Angola and Italy . From 1980 to 1984 he was Minister for Industry, Geology and Mining, and from 1980 to 1986 he was also a member of the Angolan National Assembly and its deputy chairman. From 1984 he was a lecturer in communications engineering at the engineering faculty of the Universidade Agostinho Neto in Luanda.

He then joined the Angolan diplomatic service. In 1989 he became the Angolan ambassador for the settlement process for Namibia's independence . From 1990 he was ambassador to Namibia. In 1994 he became ambassador to Zimbabwe and in 2000 to the Angolan embassy in Berlin , Germany . From 2001 he was also ambassador to the Czech Republic . From 2011 he was the Angolan ambassador to the USA . In 2014 he took on the role of Angolan Ambassador to the Netherlands ,

He is married to Maria Odete Bento Ribeiro and has five children. Alberto do Carmo Bento Ribeiro is of Catholic faith. In addition to Portuguese , he speaks French , English , German and Spanish .
