Office building Wallstrasse 59, u. a. with the Embassy of the Republic of Angola

The Embassy of the Republic of Angola is the official diplomatic representation of Angola in Germany . It is located at Wallstrasse 59 in the immediate vicinity of the Brazilian Embassy in the Mitte district of Berlin in the district of the same name .

Diplomatic relations

The Central African state of Angola gained independence from Portugal in 1974 and formed the People's Republic of Angola the following year . In the same year Angola established diplomatic relations with the GDR and four years later, on September 4, 1979, also with the Federal Republic . The official seat of the Angolan embassy in East Berlin was in Mitte , Clara-Zetkin-Strasse 89 (which has been called Dorotheenstrasse again since 1991 ). In Bonn , the embassy used a building at Kaiser-Karl-Ring 20c in the Bonn-Castell district (→ entry in the embassy list ).

After German reunification and the government move to the capital Berlin, the Angolan embassy moved to a commercial building at Wallstrasse 59 on May 28, 2001 and has been on the first floor of the building since then. Other users of the building are Egmont Ehapa Verlag and a law firm.

The office building at Wallstrasse 59 was built in the years 1999-2000 together with the building of the Brazilian embassy by the Berlin architects Pysall, Stahrenberg und Partner. It is a new building clad in natural stone with a grid facade that can be reached via an inner courtyard. Hannelore Vetter took on the interior design of the embassy rooms, who attached great importance to the clear separation between the consulate and embassy areas. The consular offices are located behind an open entrance area while the embassy buildings are locked and accessible through a separate entrance.

In front of the building on Wallstraße there is a buddy bear from the law firm located in the building, which is labeled as a patent bear . There is another bear in the house with the Manga Panda by Egmont Ehapa Verlag .
