The Moroccan Embassy in Berlin (officially Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco , Arabic سفارة المملكة المغربية) is the headquarters of the diplomatic mission of Morocco in Germany. The embassy building is located in Niederwallstrasse 39 in Berlin district center of the district of the same .
The Moroccan Embassy in Berlin is also subordinate to honorary consulates in Bremen , Kassel and Tutzing . In Düsseldorf and Frankfurt am Main there are also consulates general of the Kingdom of Morocco that are organized independently of the consular department of the embassy. Zohour Alaoui has been the ambassador since September 11, 2019.
history
From the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Federal Republic of Germany in 1957 to 1999, the Moroccan embassy was located in the then federal capital Bonn in the Godesberg villa district at Gotenstrasse 7/9.
The GDR established diplomatic relations with Morocco in 1972. The embassy was located at 116 Kuckhoffstrasse in Berlin-Niederschönhausen .
The building in the city center of Berlin, chosen by Morocco after the German government moved to Berlin, is a historic building; in the 18th century it housed the Electoral Jägerhof, and until 1945 it served as the headquarters of various departments of the Reichsbank . In the late 1930s the building was also used for police station 6. In the GDR, the building was the editorial office of the weekly newspaper " Sonntag " of the Aufbau Verlag .

The three-storey building was built around 1775 as the Electoral Jägerhof and is a listed building monument. The narrow part of the building that has been preserved was renovated, re-plastered and its roof floor expanded for use. It belongs to the building ensemble around the Gendarmenmarkt .
