The Embassy of the Republic of Malta in Germany ( Maltese Ambaxxata ta 'Malta , English Embassy of the Republic of Malta ) is the diplomatic representation of Malta in Germany and is responsible for all concerns of Maltese citizens in Germany. It is located in the Berlin district of Tiergarten of the district center in the Klingelhöferstraße 7. At the same address, the messages of the Grand Duchy have Luxembourg , the Principality of Monaco and the Kingdom of Bahrain based.

The consular support for Maltese citizens in Germany is supplemented by further honorary consulates in Bremen , Düsseldorf , Frankfurt am Main , Hamburg , Leipzig , Stuttgart and Munich .

history

After gaining state independence in 1964, Malta established diplomatic relations with the Federal Republic of Germany in 1965. As a result of the move of the German government from Bonn to Berlin, in accordance with the Bonn-Berlin Act , the Maltese Embassy moved from Bonn to Berlin in 2001. After a short renovation, the diplomats moved into the building already mentioned above, along with other foreign embassies.

The Maltese embassy in Berlin was one of 22 Maltese diplomatic missions worldwide in 2017 .

On the occasion of the rotating EU Council Presidency , which Malta took over for the first time in 2017, the embassy presented the priorities of the EU Council Presidency in Berlin. During the six-month presidency, the embassy organized several events in Berlin and around the world, such as the first European diving event or a European meeting at Fort Saint Elmo .
