The Lebanese Embassy in Berlin is the official diplomatic representation of Lebanon in Germany. The embassy is located in the listed Villa Garbáty at Berliner Straße 126/127 in the Berlin district of Pankow in the district of the same name .

Story of the message
In the 1920s there were already diplomatic relations between the German Reich and the two Asian countries Syria and Lebanon. After Beirut , a German consul sent (was Heribert Otto Paul Schwörbel ). In contrast, it has not yet been possible to prove whether the two countries also had an embassy or consulate in Berlin.
During the existence of two German states - between 1949 and 1990 - Lebanon had two diplomatic missions since 1971. Until 1990 the embassy in the GDR was located in the Berlin district of Mitte , Clara-Zetkin-Strasse 89 (renamed Dorotheenstrasse since 1990).
From 1949 to 2005 the Lebanese embassy in the Federal Republic of Germany was in Bonn - Bad Godesberg , Rheinallee 27.
Until the acquisition of the building in Pankow, the former representation in Bonn carried out the relevant diplomatic tasks from 1990, the property in Berlin served as a branch.
History of the building
The villa at Berliner Straße 126/127 in what will later be the Berlin district of Pankow was built until 1890 as the residence of the cigarette manufacturer Josef Garbáty . Up until 1900 Garbáty had further extensions and modifications made. The family lived there until the factory owner's death in 1939. In the following year, renovations took place.
After the Second World War , the villa was used as the residence of the Bulgarian ambassador to the GDR and was rebuilt again in 1963.
After the political change , the property came into the possession of the city of Berlin, but was vacant for several years. In 1998 the entrepreneur Wolfgang Seifert acquired the site including the villa. From 1999 to 2003 the villa was rented to the Republicans party .
