history

Germany recognized the Republic of Slovenia as an independent state on January 15, 1992 and established diplomatic relations . Slovenia acquired the Am Bullenwinkel office building at Hausvogteiplatz 3/4 as the representative embassy headquarters . The building was erected in 1892/1893 by the Alterthum & Zadek architects according to plans by their colleague Gustav Gebhardt . It has been repaired and largely restored to its original shape.

The embassy also performs official business for Latvia .

Architecture of the building

Portal jewelry

The ornate building in Art Nouveau style was increased by an attic in the 1960s and thus comprises five floors. The nine-axis commercial building has a round-arched central portal, above which the head of a bull is placed at the top of the archway. Above that, between the pseudo-pillars, the lettering “Am Bullenwinkel” runs and is in turn bounded by five small round niches with plastic architectural decorations. The wrought - iron double-winged gate ends in a cartouche depicting a cog. The building decoration mentioned refers to the cattle trade that existed here before the building was built. The axis directly towards Hausvogteiplatz is set off with an ornamental gable .
