The Qatari Embassy in Berlin is the headquarters of the diplomatic mission of Qatar in Germany. It is located at Hagenstrasse 56 in the Berlin district of Grunewald in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district .
In Bonn there is a branch office of the embassy at Godesberger Allee 77-81.
history
The embassy building was built on a plot of almost 4,000 m² on the Grunewalder Roseneck according to a design submitted in 1999 by the London architect John S. Bonnington in collaboration with the Berlin architectural office Duane Phillips. Construction started in 2003.
The building with a triangular floor plan stands at the corner of the intersection of Teplitzer and Hagenstrasse, where the main entrance is also located in a building crowned with a wind tower . It was built by 2004 for around 18 million euros and has a total of 2300 m². The design is based on the traditional architecture of Qatar and has typical features. The facade was clad with polished gray Spanish granite.
The residence of the Qatari ambassador is located directly on Clayallee in the immediate vicinity of the embassy and has similar architectural features. The residence has 1800 m² of living space.
The current ambassador is Mohammed Jaham Al Kuwari, who succeeded his predecessor Saoud bin Abdulrahman Hassan Al-Thani on November 21, 2019.
His predecessor as ambassador was Al-Khulaifi, who also belongs to the German Orient Foundation .
