The Romanian Embassy in Berlin ( Romanian Ambasada României ) is the head of the diplomatic mission of Romania in Germany. The embassy building is located in the Dorotheenstraße 62-66 in Berlin district center of the district of the same . Honorary consulates in Hamburg , Leipzig , Neustadt an der Weinstrasse and Stuttgart are subordinate to the Romanian Embassy in Berlin . In Bonn and Munich there are consulates general organized independently of the consular department of the embassy. Ambassador was Lazăr Comănescu from 2009 to 2015 .

history

In the German Empire there were embassies from Romania in Berlin from the 20th century ( Unter den Linden 35); Consul General Ernst Enno Russell, the legation office was at Matthäikirchstrasse 27. Germany sent its consular officers to the Kingdom of Romania , for example to Braila, Bucharest, Constanța, Galatz, Jassy.

The GDR had had diplomatic relations with Romania since October 1949. A former apartment building at Pankower Parkstrasse 23 served as the embassy building .

From 1984 to 2000, the Romanian embassy in the old Federal Republic was at Legionsweg 14 in Bonn . The former embassy building has served as the consulate general since the move to Berlin.
