History of diplomatic relations with Germany
As early as 1929, a friendship treaty was concluded between the German Reich and the Kingdom of Hejaz, Najd and the associated areas.
After the Second World War , in 1954, solid diplomatic relations were established between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Federal Republic of Germany . In the then federal capital Bonn , the embassy of Saudi Arabia was located at Rheinallee 27 and Godesberger Allee 40–42 from 1957 to 2001 .
With German reunification and the relocation of the German seat of government to Berlin through the Bonn-Berlin Act , the kingdom also planned to re-establish its embassy in the capital.
architecture
A new building in Berlin was built between 2006 and 2008 according to designs by the architects Gerhard Bartels and Nabil Fanous , the execution and planning was the responsibility of BCB Bartels Consult GmbH and Braun, Schlockermann & Partner . The building complex is dominated by a semicircular part of the building with a facade made of ornamental stainless steel elements arranged in a square and a recessed glass cube as the entrance area. Two basement floors, four full floors and a stacked floor are available as usable space. The actual embassy, consulate and residence of the ambassador are located in the building . The outdoor facilities are artistically designed with lavish greenery, there are also variously designed fountains, whose water surface reflects the building architecture.
