history

Relations between the two countries began after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the diplomatic recognition of Turkmenistan by the FRG in 1992.

The first seat of the Turkmen embassy in Berlin was a building at Langobardenallee 14 (corner of Pommernallee) in the Westend district near Theodor-Heuss-Platz . Since 2012, the embassy has been located at Königin-Luise-Straße 31 in Berlin-Dahlem .

The buildings

The house first used by the Turkmen embassy at Langobardenallee 14 was an apartment building built between 1935 and 1939. Originally the owner was Mrs. V. Kaneff, who came from abroad. In 1943 there was only one owner, the diplomat Dr. jur. I. Schlemann.

After the end of the Second World War in 1949, the east office of the SPD set up a care center for refugees from the Soviet occupation zone in the building . After the Turkmen embassy moved to the building in Dahlem, the house on Langobardenallee was given up.

The villa-like house at Königin-Luise-Straße 31 was built in 1918 as the Dahlem post office on behalf of the Deutsche Reichspost by the Berlin magistrate . It served this purpose for almost 100 years. It was closed in 2009 and the building was later sold to the state of Turkmenistan .

The wall structure consists of three floors, the facades are plastered in light yellow. The house is finished with a monopitch roof , it has a developed attic and a rectangular floor plan. Immediately to the east, a side wing has been added, which is located at 31 Edwin-Redslob-Straße. A flat round bay window over three axes adorns the street facade of the house, on the third floor it forms an open balcony. Between the generous windows on the ground floor as arched windows executed are Pilaster arranged. The interior area between the building complex also belongs to the embassy site.
