Duke Albrecht of Saxe-Eisenach

Duke Albrecht von Sachsen-Eisenach (born July 27, 1599 in Altenburg , † December 20, 1644 in Eisenach ) was a German nobleman.

Life

Duke Albrecht was the sixth son of Duke Johann III. von Sachsen-Weimar and his wife Dorothea Maria von Anhalt . The dukes Johann Ernst d. J. von Sachsen-Weimar , Friedrich von Sachsen-Weimar , Wilhelm IV. Von Sachsen-Weimar , Johann Friedrich von Sachsen-Weimar , Ernst I. von Sachsen-Gotha and Bernhard von Sachsen-Weimar were his brothers.

Duke Albrecht received his first lessons from Hofmeister Friedrich von Kospoth . Later he studied like his brothers at the University of Jena .

Shortly before his departure in 1619, Prince Ludwig I of Anhalt-Koethen accepted him into the Fruit Bringing Society . He gave it the company name of the unsightly and the motto brings the finest juice . A pruned vine was given to Duke Albrecht as an emblem. His entry can be found in the Koethen Society Register under no.17.

In the years 1619 to 1621 he completed his cavalier tour accompanied by his brother Duke Johann Friedrich. This led them through France and Switzerland. Hofmeister Hans Bernd von Botzheim and Councilor Tobias Adami were also there .

After his return in 1621, Duke Albrecht was mainly occupied with government tasks until 1626. He also represented his absent brothers. In 1627 he was appointed administrator of the Thuringian Ordensballei.

On June 24, 1633 he married Dorothea von Sachsen-Altenburg (1601–1675), daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm I.

According to the agreement with his brothers, Duke Albrecht received the Eisenach state in 1640.

Three years later, on December 20, 1644, Duke Albrecht von Sachsen-Eisenach died without heirs.
