Violetta Oblinger-Peters (born October 14, 1977 in Schwerte , Germany ) is an Austrian canoeist . In 2008 she was third in the Olympic canoe slalom .

Life

Her father Wolfgang Peters was a three-time world champion in single canoeing , an uncle was a double runner-up in kayaking. However, Violetta Peters only discovered her love for this sport when she acted as a guardian when her younger brother paddled in her father's channel. In 1994 she met the Austrian slalom canoeist Helmut Oblinger while paddling in Lofer , and in 1999 the two married. You live in Schärding , Upper Austria . In 2003, Oblinger-Peters completed her studies in economics, language and culture at the University of Passau with the title of Diplom-Kulturwirtin . Since autumn 2004 she has been studying psychology at the University of Salzburg .

Violetta Peters was German Junior Team Champion in 1994 and 1995. Until 1996 she started internationally for Germany and in 1995 she finished 17th in the single kayak at the Junior European Championships . In 1997 she took part for the first time for Austria in an international championship and was 28th at the World Championships in Três Coroas . Her greatest achievement so far was winning the bronze medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . Previously, she had to laboriously fight back to the top after the beginning of 2008 in Linz General Hospital , a heart rhythm disorder by cardiac catheterization Fixed -Eingriff. After becoming the mother of a boy in 2009, she finished fifth at the World Cup in La Seu d'Urgell that year .
