Albrecht Haaf

Albrecht Haaf (* 1953 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German musician and composer. He is married to the musician Jutta Haaf.

Live and act

Albrecht Haaf studied music with a major in piano at the University of Music and musicology at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg. This was followed by postgraduate studies in early music at the conservatory in Basel in the special department of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis .

He is the founder of the early music ensemble “Freiburger Spielleyt”. With this ensemble he has given numerous concerts in Europe and in 2002 in the USA. The ensemble has released 12 CDs so far. TV appearances were made on the ARD (Christmas concert 1998 from the Freiburg Minster), the ZDF (Sunday Matinée) and the SWR2 (Advent calendar) as well as radio recordings by SWR2 and Deutschlandfunk Kultur from the Wartburg .

Haaf is the conductor of the Müllheim Chamber Choir as well as a composer of choral music and has published new compositions for choir and arrangements. He has won various composition competitions for choral music. In 2012 Haaf was three times prizewinner in the composition competition of the North Rhine-Westphalia Choir Association. In 2013 he won an award in the 12th composition competition for the Carl von Ossietzky Prize with the composition “But incredible is the work of man” for mixed choir, organ and 2 percussionists, and in 2018 first prize in the context of the “ Valentin Becker composer Competition ”for the composition“ You are min, I'm din ”for a mixed a cappella choir. He is the recipient of the "Markgräfler Art Prize 2019".

In addition, Haaf was director of the Müllheim music school for 33 years .
