Albrunna is a town on the Swedish island of Öland in the Baltic Sea . The place belongs to the municipality of Mörbylånga and is located directly on Kalmarsund , on the west coast of the island.
Albrunna stretches in a north-south direction along highway 136, the western coastal road of Öland. To the east of the village lies the barren, wide Alvar landscape of the Stora Alvaret . Albrunna is known for the small forest Albrunna lund to the south-east , which is part of the Albrunna nature reserve . There is also the Lek Platts meadow , which in the past served as a festival meadow for celebrations in spring and midsummer .
In the northern part of the forest, a dance hall was built in the 1930s , which was in operation until the early 1960s and was of regional importance. On August 13, 1960, the well-known Swedish singer Bertil Boo performed there . One day later, Swedish Prime Minister Tage Erlander gave a campaign speech in front of 2000 people.
There is a limestone quarry northeast of the village . One of the typical Öland windmills can be found in the vicinity of the village .
Before 2015 Albrunna had the status of a småort with last (2010) 51 inhabitants on an area of 16 hectares , but lost the status as the population fell below 50.
