Club career

Alcides started his career at EC Vitória . For the 2003/04 season he was loaned to FC Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga . There he could not assert himself. From 2004 he played for half a year for FC Santos on loan. In the summer of 2004 he was signed by Chelsea for € 900,000. However, after a few friendlies, Chelsea loaned him to Benfica Lisbon two years . He played there regularly, but was less likely than expected. On his return he was immediately loaned to PSV Eindhoven . With his new team, he was instant champion. After a few appearances in his first season in the Eredivisie , he now had a regular place. At the beginning of this season, Chelsea sold him to the Ukrainian first division club Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk for an undisclosed transfer fee. He did not play a single competitive game for Chelsea. He has been without a club since the beginning of the 2012/2013 season.
