Brezavšček won his first points in the World Cup on December 2, 1995 with 19th place in Vail's Super-G . During the next 13 months he was in the top 30 only one more time until he reached tenth place in the combination of Chamonix on January 12, 1997 . Afterwards he was able to place himself in the points several times, i.e. among the top 30, but there were no further top results in the World Cup until he surprisingly finished seventh in the downhill of Val-d'Isère on December 12, 1998 and thus achieved his best World Cup result. By the end of the 1998/99 season , after which he ended his career, he was able to place between 20th and 30th six times.

Brezavšček took part in three world championships from 1996 to 1999 . His best results were eleventh place in the 1999 downhill and 13th place in the 1996 combination . At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , he reached seventh place in the combination and 28th place in the Super-G. In the Olympic downhill he was eliminated.
