Alekos Michaelides

Alekos Michaelides (Aleksandros Michailidis) (born August 13, 1933 in Milikouri , Cyprus , † January 6, 2008 in Paphos , Cyprus) was a Cypriot hotel owner, manager and politician.

Life

Michaelides studied economics in Great Britain and the United States .

From 1993 to 1997 he was Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cyprus, having held the office of President of the House of Representatives (Βουλή των Αντιπροσώπων) from 1974 to 1981 .

Michaelides died on January 6, 2008 at the age of 74 after a long illness in a hospital in Paphos ; the burial took place in Cyprus' capital Nicosia .
