Erato Kozakou-Markoullis

Erato Kozakou-Markoullis ( Greek Ερατώ Κοζάκου-Μαρκουλλή , also transcribed Kozakou-Marcoullis ; * 1949 in Limassol ) is a Cypriot politician . She was Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cyprus between August 2011 and February 2013 .

Life

She was born as Erato Kozakou in Limassol in 1949. She studied law and political science at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and graduated there in 1972 and 1974. In 1979 she obtained a doctorate in sociology and political science from the University of Helsinki .

Erato Kozakou-Markoullis was Foreign Minister in Cyprus from July 2007 to March 2008 and replaced the later President of Cyprus Tassos Papadopoulos at that time . She then changed portfolios and became Minister of Communications and Labor on March 2, 2010. This term of office lasted until August 2011, when she was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus for the second time. Her term of office ended when President Dimitris Christofias was voted out of office in the 2013 presidential election.

Erato Kozakou-Markoullis is married to Georgios Markoullis and has one son.
