Aleksandar Wassilew ( Bulgarian Александър Василев ; born July 6, 1994 ) is a Bulgarian ice hockey player who has played for HK CSKA Sofia in the Bulgarian ice hockey league since 2014 .

Career

Aleksandar Wassilew began his career as an ice hockey player in the youth department of HK Slavia Sofia . With the team he won the Bulgarian U16 championship in 2009. During the following season he moved to the Czech Republic to HC Benátky nad Jizerou , where he played mainly in the junior teams until 2012, but also played in the second men's team, which competed in the fifth division of the Czech Republic. He spent the 2012/13 season at HC Mělník , with whom he played in the second-highest Czech U20 league. He then returned to his home club HK Slawia Sofia, for which he has been playing in the Bulgarian ice hockey league ever since .

International

In the youth field, Vasilev took part in the U18 World Championships 2011 and 2012 and the U20 World Championships 2012 , 2012 and 2014 in Division III.

Vasilev made his debut in his country's men's selection at the 2014 World Cup , when the Bulgarians were promoted from Division III to Division II. He also represented his colors in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
