Aleksandra Kurzak (born August 7, 1977 in Brzeg Dolny ) is a Polish opera and operetta singer with a soprano voice .

Live and act

Aleksandra Kurzak is the daughter of the opera singer Jolanta Żmurko and the horn player Henryk Kurzak. After graduating from music high school, she first studied violin before taking singing at the music academy in Wroclaw . In 1999 she made her debut at the State Opera in Wroclaw (where she regularly appears as a guest) as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro . She also took singing lessons with Ingrid Kremling at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater .

From 2001 to 2007 Aleksandra Kurzak was closely associated with the Hamburg State Opera , first as a member of the International Opera Studio, then as a permanent member of the ensemble from the 2003/04 season.

In December 2004 she made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York as Olympia in the premiere of Hoffmann's Tales and in July 2005 as Aspasia in Mitridate, re di Ponto at the Royal Opera House in London . She had other engagements u. a. at the opera houses of Munich, Vienna, Toulouse, Palermo, Rome, Chicago and Salzburg.

Her extensive repertoire includes a .: Kate Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly , Gilda in Rigoletto , Marzelline in Fidelio , Rosina in The Barber of Seville , Queen of the Night and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte , Marie in Zar und Zimmermann , Oberto in Alcina , Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Seraglio , Ännchen in Der Freischütz , Gretel in Hansel and Gretel , Nannetta in Falstaff , Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier , Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos , Norina in Don Pasquale , Adele in Die Fledermaus , Adina in L'elisir d'amore and Micaëla in Carmen .

Kurzak was married to the baritone Jacek Jaskuła .

She has been married to the French singer Roberto Alagna since November 2015 . Their daughter was born in 2014. The couple played together the new production of Halévy's La Juive at the Munich Opera Festival 2016 , Alagna sang the Jew Eléazar, Kurzak sang his foster daughter Rachel.
