Aleksandras Macijauskas

Aleksandras Macijauskas (born May 16, 1938 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian photographer and journalist .

Life

His father died as a partisan resistant fighting the Soviet occupation. His mother was therefore deported to Siberia . Aleksandras Macijauskas grew up with his grandparents. In 1962 he graduated from secondary school in Soviet Lithuania . From 1973 to 1977 he immersed himself in philosophy of the West. From 1967 to 1979 he worked as a photographer for the daily newspaper " Vakarinės naujienos ". In 1969 he and other photographers established the association Lietuvos fotografijos meno draugija (since 1989 Lietuvos fotomenininkų sąjunga ) and in 1985 the Photography Club School (now Kaunas Photography Art School ). He is director of the Fujifilm photography gallery .

His work can be seen in the Šiauliai Photography Museum , Art Museum of Lithuania .
