Alex Ferreira (born August 14, 1994 in Aspen ) is an American freestyle skier . He starts in the halfpipe discipline .

Career

Ferreira has been participating in the AFP World Tour since 2010 . He won his first victories in the 2010/11 season at the US Revolution Tour in Copper Mountain and the Gatorade FreeFlow Tour in Snowbasin . In the 2011/12 season he was third at the US Revolution Tour in Copper Mountain and at the Aspen Snowmass Open. He made his debut in the Freestyle Skiing World Cup in December 2011 in Copper Mountain , which he finished in 62nd place. In January 2013 he won The North Face Park and Pipe Open Series in Whistler and finished 13th in the Winter X Games 2013 in Aspen . At the Winter X Games Europe 2013 in Tignes , he came 12th. After third place at the New Zealand Freeski Open in Cardrona at the beginning of the 2013/14 season, he won the Aspen Snowmass Open and won the bronze medal at the 2014 Winter X Games . In the following year he also won the bronze medal at the Winter X Games . In March 2015 in Tignes he achieved his first podium finish in the World Cup with third place. In the 2015/16 season he came fourth at the Winter X Games 2016 in Aspen and won the silver medal at the X Games Oslo 2016 . He was also third on the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge . In March 2017 he won his first World Cup victory in Tignes. At the beginning of the 2017/18 season he won the World Cup in Cardrona and the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge. This was followed by three second places and, at the end of the season, second place in the overall World Cup and first place in the Halfpipe World Cup. The Winter X Games 2018 in Aspen and the Winter Olympics in 2018 in Pyeongchang he each took the silver medal. The following year he won gold at the Winter X Games and finished eighth at the World Championships in Park City . At the Winter X Games 2020 he won gold again.
