Alex Jones (racing driver)

Alexander "Alex" Jones (born September 27, 1988 in Anglesey , Wales ; † March 30, 2019 ) was a British racing car driver who was active as a cyclist from 2013.

Career

Jones began his motorsport career in karting in 2004 , where he was active until 2006. In 2007 Jones made his debut in formula racing and took part in four British Formula Ford races. In 2008 he completed the entire British Formula Ford season for various teams and achieved 17th place in the drivers' championship. In 2009 he stayed in this series and improved to 13th overall with a pole position and a podium finish.

After a break of several years Jones received for the 2012 season of the Indy Lights a cockpit with Brooks Associates Racing . Although he was already registered for the season opener, he was not used due to budget problems. He finally made his debut in the Indy Lights in the third race, which was his only start to the season.

He died of a heart attack on March 30, 2019 at the age of 30 while riding a bike .
