Alex Merck

Alex Merck (born July 8, 1956 ; † September 2, 2012 ) was a German fusion guitarist , music producer and author.

Live and act

Merck initially worked in the banking industry and began studying business administration in Mainz in 1978 before studying film music at the Berklee College of Music from 1980 to 1984 . In the next few years he was not only active as a musician, but also made a name for himself as a media journalist before founding the record company Alex Merck Music in 1992 . To Alex Merck Music three labels that stood for different styles included: the Jazz Fusion label "Lipstick", the more related to jazz in the classical sense label "Jazz Line" and the pop-oriented label "Barracuda". On "Lipstick" there were several releases that were very successful: the album "Push" (1993) by saxophonist Bill Evans or "Symbiosis" by drummer Simon Phillips . In 2002 he had to give up Alex Merck Music . He was also entrusted with developing business plans in the entertainment and publishing sectors and also worked as an event organizer.

Merck died of complications from a heart attack .
