Alexander Baillie
Alexander Baillie (born January 6, 1956 in Great Britain) is a British cellist .
biography
Baillie began playing the cello when he was 12, drawing inspiration from Jacqueline du Pré . At the age of 16 he began studying at the Royal College of Music in London with lessons from Joan Dickson and Anna Shuttleworth . He later continued his studies with a foreign scholarship with André Navarra in Vienna and took lessons with Jacqueline du Pré.
Baillie performs regularly with renowned orchestras around the world and is a member of various chamber music ensembles. He has u. a. the seven love songs by Hans Werner Henze premiered and various CDs have been recorded, including the sonatas for cello and piano by Ludwig van Beethoven and the cello suites by Benjamin Britten .
He lives in Bremen and has been professor for violoncello at the Bremen University of the Arts since 1994 . He is Honorary Doctor from the University of Hertfordshire in Great Britain and founder of the Gathering of the Clans Summer Cello School.
