Alexander Exner

Alexander Exner (born September 25, 1947 in Vienna ) is an Austrian organizational consultant and manager . His focus is on the development and practical application of systemic consulting and systemic management.

biography

Exner studied business administration and mechanical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology . After completing his studies, he began working as an organizational consultant in 1974 with the approach of organizational development. In 1980 he founded the Neuwaldegg consultancy group, a company for management consulting and organizational development in Vienna, of which he was a member until the end of 2018. Exner is also a teaching trainer and teaching advisor to the Austrian Society for Group Dynamics . Since 2005 he has also been the managing partner of Exnerberatung GmbH.

From the beginning of the 1980s he dealt with representatives from various disciplines, such as Niklas Luhmann , Dirk Baecker , Fritjof Capra and representatives of the Milan School, with the transfer of systemic knowledge from sociology and systemic family therapy to advising companies. He is a co-founder of the Neuwaldegg research group, founded in 1986, whose aim is to combine research and practice in management and consulting.

Exner worked as a consultant for Palfinger AG from 1975 to 1989 and was appointed to the management board from 1989 to 1997. From 1997 to 2011 he was a member of the supervisory board and the strategy team. From 2003 to 2010 he also held the position of Chairman of the Supervisory Board. From the beginning of 2000, one focus of his work was the further development of the systemic management approach. During these years, the management model of corporate (self) control emerged together with colleagues from research, consulting and business .
