Alexander Grigoryevich Granberg

Alexander Grigorjewitsch Granberg ( Russian Алекса́ндр Григо́рьевич Гра́нберг ) (born June 25, 1936 in Moscow ; † August 22, 2010 there ) was a Soviet and Russian economist , professor and since 1990/1991 a member of the Soviet and Russian Academy of Sciences .

Life

Granberg studied at the economics faculty of Lomonossow University until 1960 , worked at Gosplan and conducted parallel research at the Plekhanov Academy for Economics in Moscow , where he completed his external traineeship until 1963 . In 1963 he moved to Akademgorodok near Novosibirsk, where he worked at the Laboratory for Business Mathematics Studies. In 1968 Granberg completed his habilitation as a doctor of economic sciences (Dr. sc. Oec.) . From 1969 to 1991 he worked at the Institute for Economics and Organization of Industrial Enterprises of the Siberian Department of the Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union, of which he was director from 1985. In 1984 Granberg became a corresponding member, from 1990 a member ("academician") of the Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union. From 1987 to 1990 he was also editor-in-chief of the magazine ««КО» (Eko).

Granberg was from 1992 President of the Council for the Study of Productive Forces at the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation (Минэкономразвития РФ) and author of various works on regional economics and their mathematical modeling .

He was a visiting professor at the Berlin School of Economics (1976) and at the University of Alaska (1991–1994).

politics

From 1990 to 1993 Granberg was People's Deputy , Chairman of the Committees of the Supreme Soviet of Russia for Interstate Relations, Regional Policy and Cooperation (1990–1992). He was also an advisor to Russian President Boris Yeltsin .
