Alexander Haydter

Alexander Haydter ( October 13, 1872 in Vienna - February 13, 1919 ibid) was an Austrian opera singer ( bass baritone ).

Life

Haydter first worked as a leather gallantist and only decided on a musical career when he recovered from severe diphtheria on a trip to Frankfurt in 1891 . He took singing lessons from the singing masters Josef Gänsbacher and Gustav Geiringer in Vienna and received his first engagement from 1896 to 1898 at the Zurich City Theater , where he worked as “St. Bris ” debuted in Huguenots . There it was the director and bassist Adolf Uttner , with whom he took further lessons and to whom he actually owed his singing skills. In 1898 Haydter was hired for the German State Theater in Prague, where he made his debut as "Rocco" in Fidelio . From September 1, 1905 until his death he was a member of the ensemble of the Vienna Court and State Opera . He was married to the singer Hermine Kittel (1879-1948).
