Alexander Ivanovich Perwi (born October 28, 1960 in Ukraine , † September 25, 1985 in Donetsk , Ukraine) was a Soviet weightlifter .

Athletic career

Perwi's first international competition was in 1980 in the middleweight up to 75 kg, after he had already attracted attention at internal Soviet competitions. At the European Championships he finished third behind Assen Slatew and Nedeltscho Kolew with a duel result of 347.5 kg. In addition, Pervi won the silver medal again at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow behind Slatev. This also meant the runner-up in the middleweight division, since the 1980 World Cup and the Olympic Games were held as one event. Perwi achieved 357.5 kg and was 2.5 kg behind Slatew.

After Slatew switched to light heavyweight up to 82.5 kg in 1981, Pervi actually became the favorite, but in the same year Janko Russew switched from light to middleweight and referred to second at the World Cup in Lille Pervi with 360 kg to 357.5 kg Space.

In 1982 Perwi finally followed his competitor Slatew in the light heavyweight up to 82.5 kg and scored 392.5 kg in a duel at the 1982 World Cup, placing him behind Slatew with 400 kg.

At the age of 25, Alexander Perwi died of a heart attack .
