Alexander Klee is the son of the founder Felix Klee and grandson of the painter Paul Klee . Initially raised in Würzburg , he moved to Switzerland with his parents in 1948. In 1958 he graduated from the École de photographie in Vevey . From 1963 he worked as a press photographer in Zurich , from 1970 to 1975 as a bookseller, graphic artist and painter in Bern , and since 1976 as a freelance artist in Bern and Provence . After his father's death in 1990, he was committed to founding the Paul Klee Museum in Bern, which opened in 2005 in the form of the Zentrum Paul Klee . Alexander Klee is also an art collector; more than 850 works from his possession are on permanent loan at the Zentrum Paul Klee. He also sits on the centre's board of trustees as administrator of his father's estate.
