Alexander Marshall von Bieberstein (* 19th November 1604 in Otzdorf ; † 4. April 1668 in Hermsdorf in Döbeln ) was landowner electoral Saxon advice and Obersteuereinnehmer.

Life

He was the son of Job (Job) Marshal von Bieberstein and his wife Barbara von der Sahla from the Schönfeld family. Up to the age of 16 he grew up in his parents' house and received lessons there. In 1620, with the aim of a military career based on the model of his father, he entered imperial military service in Lorraine and took part in several sieges and field battles.

In 1624 he was called home by his ailing father; the father died soon afterwards (in autumn 1624), and Alexander took over - together with his eldest brother Georg Ulrich Marschall von Bieberstein (six other brothers were in military service and could not be reached) - the administration of the paternal property; As part of the subsequent division of the estate, the Ebersbach estate near Döbeln went to Alexander. Despite the difficult times of war, he managed to discharge his estate and even make a profit, so that he was able to redeem the manors Hermsdorf (which he later made his headquarters), Kobelsdorf and Mahlitzsch , all located near Döbeln, that had been pledged by his father .

At Mardi Gras in 1625 he married Johanna Barbara von Milckau, daughter of the Elector's Saxon lieutenant colonel and captain of the offices of Lichtenberg, Senftenberg and Schweidnitz Job von Milckau auf Dallwitz and Dorothea von Goldochs. This marriage resulted in 22 children (eleven sons and eleven daughters), of which twelve survived him. These include Georg Job Marschall von Bieberstein , Joachim Wilhelm Marschall von Bieberstein , Alexander Haubold Marschall von Bieberstein , Hans Dietrich Marschall von Bieberstein and Moritz Thamm Marschall von Bieberstein .

In addition to managing his property (which were looted several times as a result of the war, two properties were even completely cremated) and raising his children, Alexander also made himself available for public services. In 1640 he was appointed to the greater council of the Elector of Saxony Johann Georg I after the Thirty Years War in 1653 . In 1664, under Johann Georg II , he was appointed chief tax collector, which he conscientiously carried out despite severe physical complaints.

On April 4th, 1668 he died in Hermsdorf and was buried on Ascension Day, April 30th, 1668 in the Nikolaikirche von Döbeln.
