Georg Hiob (Job) Marshal von Bieberstein (* December 23, 1625 - October 15, 1683 in Hedersleben ) was a Saxon court marshal .

Life

Georg Hiob Marschall von Bieberstein, eldest son of Alexander Marschall von Bieberstein and his wife Johanna Barbara née von Milckau, was born on his maternal grandfather's estate in Dallwitz near Großenhain and was baptized there on January 9, 1626. He spent his childhood on his father's estate in Hermsdorf near Döbeln .

In 1640 he and his next younger brother Joachim Wilhelm Marschall von Bieberstein started school at the electoral state school in Meißen , where he spent the next two years, after which he began studying public law at the University of Wittenberg , which he successfully completed in 1646 completed.

Soon afterwards he traveled as a member of the Saxon delegation to the peace negotiations in Münster , but in 1647 he changed to Duke Friedrich von Holstein-Gottorf as a chamberlain . In 1649 he took over the position of court master of Princess Sophie Auguste von Anhalt-Zerbst, where he met his future wife, Sibylle von Ende, the princess's chambermaid, whom he married on November 15, 1653. From this marriage eleven sons and eight daughters were born.

In 1663 he was appointed court marshal of Duke August von Sachsen-Weissenfels , whose interests he represented in the same year as a member of the Reichstag in Regensburg . It was during this time that he joined the Fruitful Society (where he was nicknamed "The More End"), as well as the acquisition of the Hedersleben estate , which he chose to be his family home.

In 1670 Georg Hiob Marschall von Bieberstein resigned from the Duke's service at his own request in order to devote himself entirely to his duties as Canon of the Magdeburg Monastery, which he carried out from 1664, and from 1681 as a senior of the bishopric.

Georg Hiob Marschall von Bieberstein zu Hedersleben died on October 15, 1683, where he was buried in the local church on November 14.
