Moritz Damian (Thamm) Marshal von Bieberstein (born March 11, 1645 , † January 22, 1702 in Dresden ) was a German nobleman and Saxon Privy Councilor .

Moritz Thamm Marschall von Bieberstein was the youngest of eleven sons of Alexander Marschall von Bieberstein and his wife Johanna Barbara, nee. von Milckau was born on his father's estate in Hermsdorf near Döbeln , where he spent his childhood. When he was eleven, his parents placed him in the care of their eldest brother Georg Job Marschall von Bieberstein in Zerbst , where he started school at the local grammar school. After finishing school he served a short time as a page at the Anhalt court until he entered the electoral Saxon service in Halle in 1660, initially as a chamber page and from 1662 as a personal page of Duke August I of Saxony-Weissenfels. During this time he continued his training under the supervision of the court master there, David Elias Heidenreich . In 1666 he was appointed chamberlain. In the same year he accompanied the dukes Johann Adolph and August von Sachsen on their trip to Vienna and Hungary. In 1668 he married his first wife Magdalene Sibylle von Bünau in Halle and was appointed ducal chief chamberlain. In the same year he inherited his father's estate in Hermsdorf near Döbeln, which he thoroughly renovated, but where he only stayed temporarily due to his work. In 1670 he was appointed ducal stable master and in 1674 chief captain of the principality of Saxony-Querfurt . On January 19, 1677, his wife died shortly after the birth of their youngest son. The marriage resulted in four sons and two daughters. In the following year Moritz Damian Marschall von Bieberstein received the ducal approval to undertake an extensive journey to the Netherlands, France and Italy, but had to interrupt it in 1679 in order to take up his new offices as ducal chief tax collector and captain of Thuringia. Moritz Damian Marschall von Bieberstein concluded his second marriage on November 28, 1681 in Dresden with Johanna Magdalena von Ende. A year later he resigned from the ducal services for health reasons, but later rejoined the Saxon civil service and was appointed to the electoral Saxon secret council in 1698.

He was accepted as a member of the Fruitful Society under the company name Der Wertfinde .

Moritz Damian Marschall von Bieberstein died on January 22nd, 1702 in Dresden and was buried shortly afterwards in the Nikolaikirche in Döbeln.
