Alexander Michailowitsch Fainzimmer

Alexander Michailowitsch Fainzimmer (also Fayntsimmer, Faintsimmer or Feinzimmer , Russian Александр Михайлович Файнциммер ; born December 31, 1906 in Yekaterinoslav , Russian Empire ; † March 21, 1982 in Moscow ) was a Soviet film director .

In the late 1920s, Fainzimmer worked as an assistant director for Vsevolod Pudovkin ( The End of Saint Petersburg , 1927) and Yuli Raizman ( Prison , 1928) before making his first own feature film with the bureaucracy comedy Poruchik Kizhe (based on the novel of the same name by Yuri Tynyanow ) realized. He worked u. a. with Sergei Prokofiev , who wrote the film music ( Lieutenant Kishe ). Dmitri Shostakovich composed the music for his film Die Stechfliege (1955). Fainzimmer, who received the Stalin Prize in 1950 and 1951 , worked primarily for the major Moscow and Leningrad film studios such as Belgoskino and Lenfilm .
