July Yakovlevich Raisman
July Jakowlewitsch Raisman ( Russian Юлий Яковлевич Райзман ; * December 2 July / December 15, 1903 greg. In Moscow ; † December 11, 1994 ibid) was a Soviet director and screenwriter .
Life
Raisman graduated from the Faculty of Social Sciences in Moscow in 1924 with a degree in literature and art history, and in the same year began working as a literary consultant for the Mezhrabpom-Rus film company . There he assisted the directors Jakow Protasanow and Konstantin Eggert and appeared in his only film as an actor in Vsevolod Pudowkin's Chess Fever (1925). His first directorial work was the film Krug in 1927 . His early works were shaped by the Sturm und Drang of the first years of Soviet socialism and had both artistic and propaganda effects. In 1931, Raisman's long-standing work began as a director for the Mosfilm studios, where he often worked with the screenwriter Yevgeny Gabrilowitsch in the following decades . Attention gained its film adaptation of Sholokhov -Romans Virgin Soil Upturned from the year 1939th
After two documentary productions at the end of the German-Soviet War , Raisman continued his career as a feature film director at Mosfilm. With Knight of the Golden Star , he was represented in the competition at the Cannes Film Festival in 1951 and at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival , where the film won the Crystal Globe (main prize). In the post- Stalin era, his films showed credible examples of average Soviet people and allowed some not uncritical insights into everyday life in Soviet society. His late work Ein Privatleben (1982) - with Mikhail Ulyanov and Ija Sawwina in the leading roles - stands out, with which he was nominated for the best foreign language film at the 1983 Academy Awards and for the Ulyanov at the 1982 Venice Film Festival with the actor's award was awarded.
In addition to his film work, Raisman also taught at the Moscow Film School Gerasimov Institute for Cinematography from 1944 to 1964 , where he led master classes in directing and acting. In 1988 he was appointed director of the film collective "Towarisch" at Mosfilm.
At the Cannes Film Festival in 1966 , Juli Raisman was a member of the jury.

Raisman has received numerous Soviet state awards. Six of his films were awarded the Stalin Prize; in first grade he received the documentary Berlin in 1946 and his Cannes contribution in 1952, Knight of the Golden Star ; in 2nd grade, for example, it was awarded in 1941 for The Last Night and in 1943 for the war drama Maschenka .
