Ija Sergejewna Sawwina ( Russian Ия Сергеевна Саввина , scientific transliteration Ija Sergeevna Savvina ; born March 2, 1936 in Voronezh , Soviet Union ; † August 27, 2011 in Moscow , Russia ) was a Soviet-Russian film and stage actress.

Life

Ija Sawwina studied journalism at Lomonossow University from 1954 to 1958 and also played in the university's student theater. From 1960 she was engaged at the Moscow Mossoviet Theater , where she became known in the roles of Marjutka Filatova in Boris Lavrenev's The Forty-First and Sochenka Marmeladova in a production based on Dostoyevsky's Guilt and Atonement . Since 1977 she played at the Moscow Art Theater .

Sawwina made her film debut under the director Iossif Cheific in the 1960 Anton Chekhov film The Lady with the Dog . In this Lenfilm production she played the lead role of Anna Sergejewna alongside Alexei Batalov . Ija Sawwina was mainly involved in film dramas and literary adaptations , including in 1967 in Alexander Sarchi's Anna Karenina . She made outstanding acting performances as Anton Chekhov's sister Marija Pawlowna in Sergei Jutkewitsch's film biography Sujet für eine Kurzgeschichte (1970) and in Juli Raisman's A Private Life (1982).

Ija Sawwina was the author of essays on well-known personalities of Russian cinema ( Sergei Jurski , Michail Uljanow , Nina Urgant , Faina Ranewskaja , Ljubow Orlowa and others). In 1976 she was awarded the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR and in 1990 People's Artist of the USSR .
