Sujet for a short story (original title: Сюжет для небольшого рассказа, Sjuschet dlja nebolschogo rasskasa ) is a Soviet color film by Sergei Jutkewitsch from 1969. The film, shot on 70 millimeters , premiered on October 6, 1969 in the Soviet Union.

The film tells of the unfulfilled love of the poet Anton Chekhov for the young teacher Lika against the backdrop of the premiere and the failure of Chekhov's play The Seagull (1895).
