Henry Alexander Pridik ( Russian Генрих Александр Придик ; born January 12 . Jul / 24. January  1864 greg. In Reval ; † 29. February 1936 in Tartu ) was a Baltic German Classical philologist and historian .

Life

Alexander Pridik was a son of the Russian major general Friedrich Heinrich von Wendrich , his brother was the later classical archaeologist Eugen Pridik . After attending the Gouvernements-Gymnasium in Reval from 1874 to 1882, he studied at the University of Dorpat from 1882 to 1887 and at the University of Berlin from 1888 to 1889 . In Dorpat he obtained his master's degree in 1888. From 1892 to 1897 he worked as a private lecturer for classical philology at the University of Dorpat, from 1897 to 1904 as a lecturer. From 1904 he was professor of Greek literature and ancient art history at the University of Warsaw ; In 1915 he was with the Russian University in Warsaw in Rostovconvicted. From 1920 he lived in Dorpat, where he taught as a professor of ancient history and art history from 1921.
