Alexander Adair Roche, Roche Baron PC KC (* 24. July 1871 , † 22. December 1956 ) was a British lawyer who most recently as Lord of Appeal in Ordinary , due to the Appellate Jurisdiction Act 1876 as a Life Peer and Member of the House of Lords was .

Life

Lawyer and judge

After visiting the Ipswich School graduated from Roche to study law at Wadham College of Oxford University and received in 1896 his legal approval to the Bar Association ( Inns of Court ) from Inner Temple . He then began working as a barrister and was for his lawyer's merits 1912. Attorney ( King's Counsel appointed). After working as a legal advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 1914 and 1917, he became a so-called “bencher” of the Inner Temple Bar Association in 1917.

In 1917 Roche was judge of the Chamber for Civil Matters ( King's Bench Division ) at the High Court of Justice responsible for England and Wales and held this judicial office until 1934. At the same time, he was promoted to Knight Bachelor in 1917 and has since had the suffix "Sir". During this time, he was from 1919 to 1920 Chairman of the Komiteeds for casual work in the Port of London and from 1932 to 1947 Chairman of the quarter court ( Court of Quarter Sessions ) of Oxfordshire .

After completing his judicial activity at the High Court of Justice, he was appointed judge ( Lord Justice of Appeal ) in 1934 at the Court of Appeal , the court of appeal responsible for England and Wales, where he worked until 1935. In addition, he was also appointed Privy Councilor in 1935.
