Alexander Wiedenhoff

Alexander Wiedenhoff (born June 4, 1901 in Borbeck (now Essen ); † November 24, 1989 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) was director of the Friedrich Wilhelms-Hütte in Mülheim an der Ruhr from 1943 to 1966 .

Live and act

After a bank apprenticeship and a university degree with a degree in business administration, he began his professional career in 1923 at the German-Luxemburgish Mining and Huts AG . At the Friedrich Wilhelms-Hütte plant in Mülheim an der Ruhr, he soon rose to leading positions, becoming a close employee of the plant director Adolf Wirtz and, in 1943, commercial director himself. In 1949 he was appointed to the board of the Eisenwerke Mülheim / Meiderich AG. After the former foundry group of the United Steelworks had been merged to form Rheinisch-Westfälische Eisen- und Stahlwerke AG , he took over as chairman of the board. In 1966 he retired after more than 40 years in the German iron and steel industry.

In addition to his job, Wiedenhoff was involved in various associations and boards of trustees. He sat on the board of the Iron and Steel Industry Association and was a member of the executive committee of the Federation of German Industries (BDI). As part of his social commitment, he worked for over 25 years on the board of trustees of the Mülheim an der Ruhr Evangelical Hospital and Supply Foundation, most recently as deputy chairman.

Honors

Because of his services to the German foundry industry, the Technical University of Berlin made him an honorary senator in 1958 . In 1966 he received the Great Cross of Merit on Ribbon from Federal President Heinrich Lübke . In 1992, a street in Mülheim an der Ruhr was named after him.
