amateur

Miroshnichenko won 210 out of 233 fights as an amateur.

National

1983 Miroshnichenko took part for the first time in the Soviet championships, but was eliminated in the second round. He finished third in 1984 and second in 1985 and 1987. In 1986 he became Soviet super heavyweight champion for the first time , a title he was able to repeat in 1988 and 1989.

International

In 1983 he was third in the super heavyweight category at the European Championships in Varna , where he won in the quarterfinals against Olaf Mayer before losing to Ulli Kaden in the semifinals . At the World Cup in Rome in 1983 , he also took third place. The 1986 Goodwill Games in Moscow he finished after a final defeat against Vyacheslav Jakowljew in second place.

In 1988 he took part in the Olympic Games in Seoul for the Soviet Union . After victories over Ali Al-Baluchi, Kuwait (5: 0), and Yoo Hyun Kim, South Korea (5: 0), he advanced to the semi-finals, but lost to the American Riddick Bowe despite two downfalls on points and won thus a bronze medal.

In 1989 he finished third at the European Championships in Athens , winning against Janusz Zarenkiewicz in the quarterfinals and losing to Ulli Kaden in the semifinals . At the World Cup in Moscow in the same year he reached the final after victories over Andreas Schnieders and Ladislav Husarik, Czech Republic , in which, however, he lost to the Cuban Roberto Balado .

professional

In 1990 Miroschnitschenko switched to the professional camp, but had comparatively little success there. Although he won his first 21 fights, he mostly fought against inexperienced opponents. Nine of his opponents played their first professional fight against him. In October 1990 he defeated Ross Puritty . On April 17, 1993 he fought against Oleg Maskayev in his professional debut and lost by technical knockout in the third round. Then he ended his career.

Alexander Mirozhnichenko died on May 19, 2003 after falling from a staircase in the then Kazakh capital of Almaty.
