Alexander von Sengbusch

Alexander von Sengbusch (born December 7, 1796 in Riga , † January 22, 1883 in Karrishof ( Ösel )) was a German-Baltic Evangelical clergyman.

Life

Alexander von Sengbusch was the son of the Riga merchant Konrad von Sengbusch (1768–1849) and grandson of the Riga mayor Alexander Gottschalk von Sengbusch . After attending grammar school in Riga, he began studying cameralia at the universities of Dorpat , Heidelberg and Göttingen. In Göttingen he became a member of the Corps Curonia III in 1815. In 1816 he was at the University of Goettingen relegated . After that, Sengbusch studied for a year at Moscow University in 1817 . In 1818 he was first assistant to the table attendant in the Ministry of Public Enlightenment of the Russian government in Saint Petersburg . In 1818 and 1819 he worked in the office of the Evangelical Consistory under the then President Count Karl von Lieven . Because of this activity and the corresponding environment, he began studying theology in Dorpat in 1820 and passed his candidate examination in Riga in 1821. Sengbusch was pastor at the church in Pühhalep from 1822 until his retirement in 1877 .

In 1822 he married Julie von Nolcken (1802–1875) from the Kandern family. The pedagogue Johannes von Sengbusch and the landowner and mayor of Arensburg Konrad von Sengbusch were the couple's sons. His younger brother Wilhelm von Sengbusch (1802–1880) continued the family business.
