Life and achievement

Alexandra Robl has lived in Mittenwald ( Upper Bavaria ) for several years and is a nurse by profession .

Together with her husband, Matthias Robl , who died in an accident in May 2008 , Alexandra Robl has already completed numerous rock and ice tours, including several first ascents as well as opening up many new routes (e.g. the "Sky Ride" route in the south face of the Himmelhorn in 2000, Difficulty level IX).

  • Her greatest sporting successes to date include (together with Matthias Robl) the ascent of Cho Oyu (8,188 m, sixth highest peak on earth) on May 9, 2004 from the Tibetan side, without additional oxygen. After a Swiss woman, Alexandra Robl was only the second woman to climb the summit at this point.
  • A winter ascent of the Eiger north face (3,967 m) together with her husband on 20/21. March 2003 is also one of their highlights.
  • On July 22, 2006, Alexandra Robl succeeded in a team with Matthias Robl and the altitude medicine specialists Dr. Markus Tannheimer (expedition leader) and Dr. Alfred Thomas the first ascent of the Shimshal Whitehorn in the Shimshal Valley in Pakistan (6,304 m), sponsored by the DAV as a performance expedition. In the run-up to this, they carried out five first ascent in this area, including the Chu Kurtha Dust (Chu Kurrti) east summit (5,366 m) and west summit (5,685 m), as well as the Sunrise Peak (5,755 m)
  • On August 4, 2007, Matthias (as expedition leader) and Alexandra Robl - with a group from the organizer DAV Summit Club as the first German expedition to mark the 50th anniversary of the DAV - reached the summit of the 7,064 meter high Koskulak Peak in Kunlun, China , via the northwest ridge -Mountains, also without the use of additional oxygen; then they carried out another ascent on skis and a subsequent ski descent from the mountain. Koskulak Peak had previously only been climbed by a Russian team of two and a Korean-Japanese expedition. Alexandra Robl was the first woman ever on the summit.
  • Since 2005, together with Matthias, she has set up 27 of the two first-climbed routes at Öfelekopf near Leutasch (district Puitbach) in Tyrol (climbing area "Hong Kong", sector "Chinese Wall"), including routes with the highest levels of difficulty (7, 8, 9- ). On May 10, 2008 Matthias fell in front of his wife, who was climbing ahead of him, on the same "Great Wall of China" while setting up a new tour and suffered severe head injuries from which he died the next day.

Like her husband, she is active in sport climbing and waterfall climbing and has taken part in various ski mountaineering competitions (e.g. ski marathon , German championships in ski mountaineering , Diamirrace / Dammkarrennen , Grüntenlauf ) and often achieved top ranks.

Like her late husband, Alexandra Robel is a member of the “ Salewa AlpineXtrem Team” and tests mountaineering equipment in practice for the company. Both also gave numerous multivision lectures on their tours.
