Alexandre-Jacques Chantron
Alexandre-Jacques Chantron (born January 28, 1842 in Nantes ; † January 3, 1918 ibid) was a French portrait, still life and nude painter and photographer.
Chantron studied at the École des beaux-arts de Paris with François-Édouard Picot , Tony Robert-Fleury and William-Adolphe Bouguereau . After completing his studies, he returned to Nantes and worked there for life.
In the first creative period he mainly painted portraits and still lifes. Later he began to paint studies of the nude in the style of Bouguereau. Chantron also experimented with photography.
He exhibited his works at the Salon de Paris from 1877 , received an honorable mention in 1893, a third class medal in 1899 and a second class medal in 1902.
