Tony Robert-Fleury was the son of Joseph Nicolas Robert-Fleury . After finishing school, Robert-Fleury became a student of the painter Léon Cogniet . Through his recommendation, he later found accommodation in Paul Delaroche's studio . There Robert-Fleury soon made friends with his other students, such as Gustave Boulanger , Louis Gallet and Ernest Hebert . In 1866 his painting Warsaw in April 1861 , which described a current event of the day and showed the bloodbath on Palace Square on April 8, 1861 in Warsaw, was exhibited and awarded at the Paris Salon. Other paintings followed, such as a scene from the last days of Corinth (1870).

In addition to his works from history, Robert-Fleury also created portraits and genre scenes . Among his works there are also more intimate motifs, such as the lady bathing ( French Le bain ), which, together with the painting Sous la Révolution , was shown at the Paris Salon in 1903.
